Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get started. Lowen uncovers an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended anyone to read, with pages of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate him. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit, if he were to read his wife's words. **REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!** Wow. Just wow. It's a few steps away from my usual genre, but this book has been being passed around at work lately and everyone has gotten hooked on the first page. The overall themes were way darker than I had expected going in, which normally I dont mind, and the major letter at the end was an absolutely fabulous and sinister twist. I loved the exploration of the moral grey areas too. I really didn't like Lowens character though. Like, at all. Her thought process, her judgments, and her actions all seemed unreal and definitely didnt help the story move along in my opinion. and I HATE the fact that she destroyed the letter and never told him the truth. Honestly I dont think there was much point to the overall story. So Verity is faking her illness to hide from her husband after he finds the diary where she claims that she killed their child, which wasnt true, just a literary aid to help her through her grief, the fact that the husband immediately got violent with her, rather than finding out the whole story really irked me as well. Oh my gosh!!! Where do I start with this one! I loved it so much.

How do you feel when you are hired to do a job that you don’t actually want and it turns into a fight for your life?

This is a gripping thriller that had me speed reading to find out what happens next! There are so many jaw dropping moments that had my bottom jaw literally drop open!

This one is definitely worth the hype and all the convos and whispers. I recommend this for your group reads, but if you read alone, be prepared to finish it in record time! I did 🤣

Love love love this one 💕 ( )

What did I just read?

I am sitting here trying to process what I just read. It's creepy and heartbreaking, but in a good way. Once Lowen found the manuscript I just knew things were going to get even more creepy. But that ending!!! I'm all up in my feelings and can't even fathom what I would do. ( )
