One of the three founders of COBE, a medical device company, recounts his story and that of the industry and their company's place in it, from its beginning in 1964 through its sale to competitor Gambro in 1990.
Worthwhile business advice: working hard and seizing opportunities includes solving the customer's problems; pay attention to Peter Drucker's advice; keep up with the changes in industry environment.
Basically, the company that became a world leader by giving better service and value, lost ground when customers focused more on price in a mature industry.

Heavy on data that won't interest anyone else much, the best part is the personal stories of the people who created and worked with the company, and the arc of developments in the industry of heart surgery, renal products and dialysis, and blood products in general. ( )
