While way over the top in places, I have to admit that I enjoyed this book. I love it that Patty is an average looking older woman.
At the very beginning of the book, Patty witnesses a man who leaps off the ship. Before he jumps he asks Patty to save Anna and hands her a note. On the back of the note are the numbers 2124. Patty and Butler Jermaine knock on Cabin 2124 the next morning. Patty is all prepared to meet a widow. She is surprised to meet an overbearing man and his equally annoying wife. I love it that Mr. Higgs does not use profanity here in this scene, but he substitutes the word fruit. Cleverly done.
Patty, Jermaine, Barbie and 2 retired 80+ year old cops chase all over Tokyo trying to find Anna. Their chase leads them to 2 different mafia bosses. In the middle of all of this, Charlie surprises Patty by arriving in Tokyo and makes his way into her suite. Of course, Patty is not happy because she is developing feelings for the Captain.
The ending is great! ( )
