Revival of the immortal TV movie and series character Karl Kolchak, the intrepid reporter who managed to find a new monster every week. Kaminsky's story is the best, as Kolchak faces off against a killer virus that makes its victims explode. The art throughout the volume is suitably dark, and Kolchak is evoked as Darren McGavin - how could it be any different? Fans of the old series will read these stories with the voices of McGavin and Simon Oakland (as Kolchak's editor, Tony Vincenzo) in mind. Not sure that readers new to the character will get as much out of it. Still, a pleasant hour or two can be had, though the book is marred by sloppy editing. ( ) no reviews | add a review
