Inspector Luke Thanet investigates the murder of a womanizing travel writer whose body was found in the swimming pool at his own engagement party. The text became repetitive as clues were revisited so often. The conclusion was unsatisfying. ( )

i was enjoying the book but the solution was actually sad. you hoped the culprit was not going to be punished but the solution was so peculiar that that the book was not really finished because almost every character was in medical danger. old-fashioned/uninformed solution? ( )

Another stab at expanding my mystery vocabulary. This British procedural was mediocre. I liked the relationship between Inspector Thanet and Lineham but other than that, there was nothing which would make me pick up another in the series. ( )

Book description
Travel writer Max Jeopard abused everyone so wretchedly that his murder at his own engagement party surprises no one. But while interrogating Jeopard's living victims, Inspector Thanet sees a way he can influence the course of justice as no judge or jury could. But will he?
