And other rules Liam, her detestable big-oil lawyer of a roommate, knows nothing about. Okay, sure, technically she??s the interloper. Liam was already entrenched in his aunt??s house like some glowering grumpy giant when Mara moved in, with his big muscles and kissable mouth just sitting there on the couch tempting respectable scientists to the dark side?but Helena was her mentor and Mara??s not about to move out and give up her inheritance without a fight.

The problem is, living with someone means getting to know them. And the more Mara finds out about Liam, the harder it is to loathe him?and the easier it is to love him.

Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Read: April 2023

I wasn’t sure what to expect with these novellas, but I loved all three of them!

This was a super cute and cozy read! Both characters were lovable and the amount of spice packed into this little story was perfection. ( )

Mara, an environmental engineer just starting her career after completing her doctorate, inherits a house from her mentor. She is thrilled because she is almost broke and she cannot afford to pay rent. However, she finds out that the house is co-owned by her mentor's nephew, Liam, who has lived in the house for years. Of course he is not happy when Mara arrives on his doorstep.
This is a cute enemies to lovers romance. I had to get over the improbable premise, but once I did, I really enjoyed the story and rooted for the characters. Some of the humor is a bit over the top for my tastes and the sex scene is a bit sudden, but apart from that I loved it and will certainly read more by Ali Hazelwood. ( )

Original review:
Under One Roof is an enemies to friends to lovers novella with some forced proximity thrown in. It's pretty cute and I liked the main characters together, even though some of the plot was a bit rushed and the quirkiness of the main characters sometimes felt awkward. I'll definitely continue the series when the ebooks are released. ( )

As a woman in STEM, I am beyond sick and tired of seeing every man in a STEM work environment treat women terribly in books like these. To any girl contemplating going into STEM, don’t let stereotypes like these scare you off. It simply isn’t true 98% of the time. ( )
