I think this was an Amazon First Reads pick. I originally thought I'd be rating this lower than I have because I spent the first half to two-thirds of the book with the only redeeming feature of the main character being that she loved her dog. (And even that, there were times that her self-destructiveness meant she forgot to feed him or left him outside for long periods.) It wasn't until the reason for her self-destructive behavior was revealed that she became a sympathetic character for me.

And yet, despite such self-destructive behavior, she has not one, but two, "hot" guys in her life. I'm not a fan of the sex outside of marriage that populates most books in this genre however, and the book lost points for Anna doing so with both guys (at different times).

Possible Triggers for Readers:
*Those who have lost babies/children might struggle with some parts of this book. ( )
