Very enjoyable YA book. Featured nice action scenes and an interesting magical system.

Harry Potter with a touch of Pokemon. Good versus evil. Klay Ren and his new friends Ravel, Gayle, and Ayran band together to develop and use their Forces of Nature powers to fight evil and ultimately hope to become Guardians. The storyline isn't very original, however the characters and fast-paced action make this an entertaining story that would appeal to tweens. ( )

Atlas Dawn is an interesting story that draws clear inspiration from Naruto and other anime, while bringing it's own unique twist. The basic plot is timeless, but common. A hero with a will of steel overcomes all odds to achieve victory.

I received this book through Library Thing Early Reviewers in return for an honest review.

When I first started this book I wasn't sure that it was going to be something I'd enjoy. It didn't grab me instantly, but I decided to try a few more chapters, and I'm SO glad that I did because once I got to know some of the characters better, and when they arrive at the school, and all the wordbuilding came into play more, I was solidly hooked. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.

I loved the system of magic and hierarchy of magical strengths, and just the interplay of the characters. I think people who loved Harry Potter would definitely enjoy this book. It's students at a school for magic, what's not to like? But the best part is that it's not a copycat of Harry Potter and it's clear the author spent a lot of time figuring out this world and how his characters fit into it. Definitely a winner worth reading, and a good magical adventure story for young and old alike. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. The group of friends with diverse abilities and personalities was reminiscent to me of Harry Potter, but was different enough that I wasn't comparing the two while reading the book. That being said, I do feel that readers who enjoyed reading Harry Potter would really enjoy reading this book. The book ended alluding to big things coming and I'm excited to continue reading this series to see what happens.

I received this book as part of the early reviewers giveaway. ( )
