Charlie And The Chocolate Factory is a mouth-watering, epic comeback from the vastly disappointing original. The movie is truly a fantastical rollercoaster of chocolatey goodness. It absolutely blows the 1971 Gene Wilder movie out of the water with its perfect set design, faithfulness to its source and its hit of that Tim Burton twisted magic that we all know and love! For those many of us that were disappointed by the old movie, you're in for a treat with this one! Its got the wondrous trio of Tim Burton, Roald Dahl and Johnny Depp and it actually has a nut room making it way more like the book and way more like we'd imagined it! Enjoy this movie, it really is the only true adaption of this beautiful book! ( ) An excellent adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic book, starting Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. A bit surprising at first as the character is so very different from the more cuddly Wonka of the older version of the film - however, this one is much truer to the book, other than an extra slightly odd storyline towards the end. Perhaps a tad scary for young children, but we very much enjoyed it. A very Burton-esque adaption of Dahls book, but the changes from the novel only serve to enhance the story. Spectacular to watch and listen to, and the kids do a very good job. They pale when Depp's Wonka enters the screen though. He manages to be both innocent and sinister at the same time, and very much embodies the feeling Wonka gave me as a child. no reviews | add a review
