This book certainly could have been a lot more than it is. Lock provides a very superficial overview of the official history with only very few first hand refernces for the campaign. Additionally, the book is not well served by his glancing observation of the British campaign in Mesopotamia. The few anecdotal personal references provided by Lock are quite good, so it is a shame that he didnt pursue this line of approach, rather than covering what has been covered elsewhere in more detail.
