I watched a bit of the beginning, but didn't particularly care for the story. YMMV. ( )

An enjoyable film with a dual timeline, featuring the rebellious Idgie in the 1930s, and Evelyn, a rather unassertive woman in the 1990s who wants to save her marriage. The link is Ninny, an elderly lady, who tells the story of her family, including a murder inquiry. Very well done, realistic and a nice blend of trauma and gentle humour. Some bad language, some shocking treatment of black people in the earlier sections (this is set in Alabama, in the southern part of the USA) but overall an uplifting, encouraging film.

Recommended to older teens and adults.
