Typical hap & Leonard , violence, Dr. Pepper & philosophy. Fun ( )

This is another great entry in the Hap and Leonard series. The story starts off with Hap and Leonard sorting out some low level scumbags to save the daughter of their long time friend, Marvin. Unknown to the protagonists, the low level scumbags are connected to the Dixie Mafia. The Dixie Mafia send the scumbags after them and after a blood shootout, Hap and Leonard go on a mission for an ex-Dixie Mafia middle man. Hap and Leonard team up with a couple of oddballs and go on a mission trying to outsmart the local police, FBI, Dixie Mafiosos, a young and dumb couple, and a sexy assassin, Vanilla Ride.
One of my favorite thing about Lansdale's series is the dialogue between Hap and Leonard. It is sharp witted with a whole lot of sarcasm. This book introduces one of my favorite semi-regular characters, Vanilla Ride. I have not read the series in order and have wondered how she was introduced. I enjoyed how the team interacted with each other and the role they played within the novel. Hap and Leonard easily carry a novel, but their interactions with the outside world is extremely captivating. ( )

So violent and so funny. Of course Lansdale is writing in a post-Tarantino world by now, but there is still something deliciously transgressive about how much fun these books are. Hap and Leonard make me laugh. They are also badass despite being a pair of dreadful fuckups. ( )

Lansdale marks the return of Hap & Leonard with their finest adventure since [b:Bad Chili|102132|Bad Chili|Joe R. Lansdale|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1171484489s/102132.jpg|1791019]. Full of laugh out loud humor, graphic violence, and social relevance. In other words, exactly what we've come to expect from a Lansdale novel.

Highly recommended for both fans of the series and newcomers. ( )

Great book! Great action, awesome dialogue, and kick ass characters! Hap and Leonard rule! Brett too! And Vanilla Ride is not too shabby either! Only thing keeping this from being a 5 star for me is Hap's whining about who he is and what he does! Embrace it man! You rule! ( )

Da un bel pezzo non mi sparava più nessuno, e negli ultimi due o tre mesi ero riuscito anche a conservarmi la testa tutta intera. Si trattava di una specie di record e cominciavo già a sentirmi speciale.
