Fun but wished it was longer but that's what you get with YA ( )

Warning: this book is not the upcoming film adaptation (Seventh Son, 2015)! The book is an excellent coming-of-age story. Nuanced, building from innocence to taking responsibility. It is suspenseful at a YA level. It is not full of monsters like the movie trailer shows. ( )

This is a very short and fun book.

Nothing really new about the setting or the story, very average.
1. Boy goes away from home.
2. Boy gets with a mentor.
3. Boy starts to learn what will make him famous later.
4. Don't forget a girl / potential romantic interest.

Very good opportunities for follow-up stories.

I kind of see a Dresden Files vibe, hope it goes as well. ( )

First words
When the Spook arrived, the light was already beginning to fail.
Quotations
"The first time I'd learned about witches the Spook told me never to trust a girl with pointy shoes. I would have believed that if I never met Alice Deane. Despite the Spooks convictions, I can honestly say I would trust at least one girl with pointy shoes."
“I married your dad because he was a seventh son. And I bore him six sons so that I could have you,”
