A weird premise for the story of residents of a set of flats in a building in Dublin. Told from the perspective of the "spirit' of a future child looking for parents to come together. ( )

Happily this book has many of Marian Keyes' typical qualities that ensures I read everything she has published. I very quickly became involved with all the characters, for good or bad. And, satisfingly, in the end all the 'good' people find happiness in the end and the truely unlikeable character gets his just desserts. The original approach this novel takes involves a slightly supernatural/fairy-tale element in the back ground. A quick, easy and very enjoyable read, as always.

Owned a copy until I left it on the bus! Hooray for libraries, barely skipped a beat. Marian's novels are always bittersweet escapism and The Brightest Star delivers, with new, sparkling and often sharp-tongued characters.

I am a huge fan of Marian Keyes and avidly awaited, this, her latest novel but sadly this book did not match my expectations. What on earth has happened to the woman? Has she changed her editorial team? Has she lost the run of herself? The book was incredibly dull and boring and I struggled to become interested in any of the characters, perhaps because we are not permitted the opportunity to get to know anyone in any real depth. I really struggled to read this book and had to force myself, over many days to continue with it, each time with as much enthusiasm as a visit to the gynacologist, but frankly I would rather undergo a pap smear than read anything by Marion again ( )

If you think the plot summary sounds silly, ignore it. Marian Keyes, as usual, delivers great characters, drama, and humor. ( )
