A suspenseful, fast-paced, intelligent medical drama with a layer of romance.
The main characters work through the bumps in their relationship all while dealing with family crises, trauma in the community, and trailing a serial killer who kidnapped a young niece. There's a lot going on in this 48 hour drama, but the authors seem to make it all work out in the end, dropping clues to a past mystery.
I loved the intrepid, smart young Doriann, and her parts in the story had me rooting for her. show more The dog Humphrey was a perfect side hero too. Doriann's honest prayers were priceless. There are some mentions of faith here and there, but fairly light. A bit of a plot twist in the end made it even better.
Easy to read as a stand alone, though part of a series. Recommend! 4.5 stars

If you have read the "Christy Award-winning Hideaway" series by this husband and wife writing team, then you will want to pick up this story in the "River Dance" series. It was one of those stories I had a hard time putting down, because it kept moving and I wanted to see what would happen next. I liked the way it jumped from the abductors in the story to the folks who would be searching and kept you up to date in what was going on with both sets of characters. It was fast paced, a little show more scary, and full of characters you will get to know (some you will like and others not). And all 360 pages takes place within about a 24 hour period of time!

Dr. Jama Keith has just arrived back in the town she grew up in, as the new doctor at the River Dance clinic. Her one goal is to hopefully not run in to her ex-boyfriend, Tyrell Mercer, but it won't take long before that hope is extinguished. She will first have to take care of Tyrell's Dad in an emergency and then her and Tyrell will be thrown together trying to track and find Tyrell's niece, Doriann, who has been abducted by two of the FBI's most wanted, and headed towards River Dance. Doriann is quite a little lady and has been abducted and even though she is scared silly, she is able to make an escape and the story gets a little tense as you read of her running and her captors always just a few steps behind. There were a few surprises for me in the story, but I always enjoy being surprised. If you want a story that will get the heart pumping faster than normal at times, then pick up this book and be prepared to experience "A Killing Frost".

This author does a good job of combining a suspenseful story with romance and faith. This is another story in the "Hideaway" series and this story centers around nurse Jill Cooper (who you will meet and get to know better if you read the stories in the order they were written). I like a story where it keeps you guessing as you try to figure out who did what and why till the very end and this series is very good at this.

The beloved former high school principal in Hideaway, Edith Potts, show more suddenly collapses and quickly dies. For Jill Cooper it was a devastating loss of a good and faithful friend through her growing up years. This won't be the only death though in town and are they accidental or related? Jill will have to sort through the clues to find the answer. As it states on the back cover, "Jill will have to look hard at her troubled history, question her sanity, her faith . . .and face the deepest secrets in her heart".

Jill will also have to face her former sweetheart who is in town helping the clinic to apply to become a hospital. The attraction is there for both of them, but Jill will fight those feelings every step of the way. There will be other characters from the previous stories that you will continue to keep an eye on and see how they are doing. A good series to sit back and enjoy as you head to the quaint town of Hideaway.

Would Memory Return be a Good Thing?

An intelligent psychiatrist found wandering in a cemetery far from her work in a fugue state. She doesn't know her name, her friends, or how she got there. Quite an interesting set-up. Although it could be a stand-alone, the book is best read as part of the Hallowed Halls series because of the emotions that are displayed by characters. These over-the-top emotions can be best understood if one knows the background intimately of the characters as presented show more in book one.

We get to revisit many people we met in the first book and see how they deal with life issues. Joy and Zach have rekindled their broken relationship, but what effect will Weston's reappearance do to said relationship? If you love somebody, can you control their relationships, especially if you are pretty sure the relationship is toxic, or do you trust that to the Father? Also, what do you do when there is a serious issue with your employee, who is also your fiance'e? Joy is still working on forgiving those who have wronged Molly, her mother, and that is causing a wedge between her and God. So many thorny situations to work through, either with or without God's leading help. How will it all turn out? Back to the biggest question, will Myra safely regain her memory without disastrous effects?

This was a great book that had me pulling for all people, although often they seemed on different sides.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
