Retirement Planning: The Soon-To-Be Senior’s Guide to an Enjoyable and Hassle Free Retirement (Freedom Lifestyle) by Ray Powell
I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.
I decided to read this book to see if I’ve done the right things and if I’m still doing them, and it appears that as far as I am concerned.
Being a retired NYCity employee and still living here, I’ve got no real desire to relocate, especially since all of my retirement income [pension, social security, and up to $20,000/year TDA withdrawals] is free from state and local taxes. And if my dear OH and I do decide to move to show more another state, that state would have to provide the same tax benefits.
Deciding on when to take my social security for me turned out to be a simple mathematical calculation. Not knowing how long I’m going to live I decided to take it at age 62 and not 66 ½. If I would get $1,000/month at age 62 I would have $120,000 at age 72; however, calculating $1,200/month at age 66 I would only have $86,400 at age 72 - - - a difference of $33,600, not counting any yearly increases.
With the myriad of options available for Medicare benefits, I chose regular Medicare A/B because my pension reimbursements me for the premiums the following; and if I’ve got to pay any additional monthly premiums, after submitting the documentation the addition amount paid gets reimbursed the following year.
Being retired has allowed me to become a blogger, a romance author, as well as a book reviewer. It has allowed me and my dear OH to do the things we love to do, without worrying about being able to get up the next day to do to work.
So, in retrospect, I believe this short book can serve the needs of those beginning to consider retirement and the sooner readers begin their retirement planning the better off they’ll be; but naturally one also has to seek out professional advice in making the correct decisions in their personal retirement planning.
Having been retired for almost 8 years I feel this book, for what it is, has garnered the 5 STARS I’ve given it. show less
