I have no idea what is going on in this authors head, but it is good. A Super-Powered Pickle is discovered in the floorboards of 8 year old girls bedroom. Pickle and girl team up to fight intelligent highly evil vegetables ...
It is even better than it sounds. Art is exciting and bursting with color.... sooooo good. Best for grade 7+, they will understand the wittier jokes more.
ALL AGES
This painterly short-story, devoid of words, is incredibly rich in emotion. Scott Morse tells a tale in two parts, a tale of two guitar players, one jilted and lonely in the big-city, the other widowed and living by the sea. Their two lives are terribly different, but they are both in pain, and can find little solace in the world. But their lives do intertwine, if only briefly, and in the anguish of one lies the hope of the other.
Pretty dumb (in a good way), but I enjoy the childlikeness of the story, just seems like a bunch of kiddies messing around with a paranormal element that works. I didn’t think I would like this story, but it’s charming. I HATE the font tho.

3.5^
I was first really into this book. It was fun and fresh. I liked the humor. It lost me though because of some red flags…

The pickle is called Weapon Kosher. Yes, love the positive inclusion of Jewish culture. He has a star on his head. I thought okay cool, let’s turn the yellow star into a positive symbol for justice. But it’s not a Jewish star. It’s blue though, so that’s something. This takes place in Hicksville, USA. Might just be a throwaway place but there’s a Hicksville on
show more Long Island, the island having a large Jewish community. The enemy is a romaine lettuce (that looks like a cabbage) named the Romaine Gladiator. The old man in charge of the pickle is named Dr. Jekyll Formaldehyde. The only person interested in eating the pickle is a nerdy mouth breather with glasses who then gets his glasses punched off by the pickle. It’s called the Magic Pickle, but the pickle was held in stasis in a basement lab from the 50s. We first meet him when he emerges from below a little girl’s bed and then burns off the foot portion of her footie pjs.

It started strong and could have been a good story. It’s just too lazy with the writing and the appropriation. Would not recommend.
