I devoured this book cover to cover and am now using as a reference book.
Insightful, helpful and very empowering for women who want to understand the risks of preganancy and healthy, simple, nourishing ways to support the health of the mother and child. A very important learning is to consider childbearing as 13-months -- the two months prior to conception, 9 months of carrying the baby en-utero and two months following.
Highly recommend for all women to read -- separate to childbearing the show more benefit of reproductive knowledge & nourishment is worthy. show less

This book is a true gem - a timeless classic of herbal medicine. What I particularly like about it is the in depth look into 7 different herbs (instead of just superficial info on 30 or more herbs). I especially love the first part which contrasts and compares the Wise Woman, Heroic, and Scientific approaches to healing.
Although this book is mainly focused on women's health, everyone can benefit from the information in it as the 7 herbs covered are nutrient and mineral dense.
This is one of show more the books that I refer to again and again as I find a new treasure each time I open it. show less

This book is, quite simply, something else. I couldn't get through the first section without skimming, it was just way too Earth-Mother for my taste.
The sections on the "weeds" were cool but I found it annoying how she wrote from the weed perspective, and I had to completely skip the dandelion section which was in a fake French accent.
Read this book only if you don't mind reading stuff like "Think of chickweed as increasing your permeability to solar, lunar, universal and cosmic energies." show more This book goes way beyond hippie. show less

there's only two reasons this book didn't get five start - the cover design and the annoying fake french accent in one of the chapters. the cover design is freaky, i admit, but really, the info inside is pretty amazing and very understandable.
