Vince Lee's first-person account of a quarter-century of exploration in Peru's Cordillera Vilcabamba. A former Marine and an architect by vocation, Lee helped to establish that Espiritu Pampa, and not Machu Picchu, was the last city of the last Inca emperor. With a plethora of detailed maps by the author (some of these have been used by the Peruvian INC to help guide restoration). A highly readable and engaging account.
