This is an excellent analysis of the USAAF's effort to push the envelope of the possible in 1940 in regards to fighter aircraft, and how the contemporary limitations of technology, aerodynamic knowledge, and the failure of the so-called "Hyper" program to produce a new generation of liquid-cooled engines only led into a dead end; particularly with the incipient dawn of turbojet propulsion. If you're interested in x-planes you'll probably want this book. If you're intending to build a model show more of one of these machines you'll absolutely need this book. show less
Good coverage and worth the money

Fair amount of text for the size. Excellent illustrations of the surviving XP-55 in Kalamazoo.
