If he happened to be in our times, Shibli would have been a crafty blogger. These are short expositions, nothing too verbose and windy; just an arbitrary assortment including reviews or commentaries on books, a polemical indulgence here and there and one odd novel piece. I found his musings on pre-Islamic face-covering by women as a rejoinder to Syed Ameer Ali, and the perennial issue of determinism/ predestination particularly insightful.
