It's well researched and comprehensive (from the business perspective - it glosses over any technology) but written in a needlessly verbose and repetitive way. This book could be half as short without cutting any information.
The author has tried to write an "expose" of the outsourcing of the intelligence business in the US. Heavily footnoted throughout, the Shorrock provides some insight into the history of how the business works and spends much of the time detailing the "revolving door" between industry and government - always with an evil intent. He is extremely single-minded in his intent and execution of the villianization of the industry and its practices. Although it appears to be significantly researched show more (many sources quoted), he tends to jump to conclusions that in my opinion are not supported by the "facts" provided. He has a tendency to present some facts (all true to the best of my knowledge) and then summarize with a series of superlative adjectives and adverbs that really are not needed, supported, or useful. This tendency makes the reader really suspect the author's objectives. Overall, a good volume to provide background on the business - and overall a bad volume on the basis of objective conclusions drawn. show less
Well, I'm sure this is a good book but it just didn't hold me. The narrator was great, the info is great, but it's more like a reference book of all the companies that are now outsourcing intelligence. It's disgusting, and I wish I were more shocked that I am, but I just couldn't get thru hearing over and over the stats of how much intelligence is being outsourced. Still, if you want in-depth detail on what companies are outsourcing and how much they are, this is the book for you. Loaded show more with detail. show less
