This book will change the way you think about heaven-and the way you live on earth. Schaeffer offers insight into that heavenly desire, the heavenly location, the heavenly life, and heavenly preparation, showing how God wants that "better country" to be the passion and purpose of our present life.
NCLA Review - The author begins by giving the reader a glimpse into his distressed life as a child and young man. Schaeffer says that not all distress is harmful, and that how we respond to our distress has much to do with the nature of our restoration. Using the story of Ruth and Naomi as the vehicle for his ideas, he explains how the interruptions of unpleasant things are just a part of life, not a distraction from it. Just as God restored Naomi, he can redeem, restore, and sustain the show more hearts and minds of his followers. This book could be used as a Bible study of Ruth by either an individual or a group; questions and sources for each chapter are included at the end. Also, it could be used by individuals or groups whose lives are broken and need to be restored. Rating: 3 —AMB show less
This is a reissue of Dan Schaeffer's book :when temptations and opportunities merge." It is a good book for devotional reading and Bible study, showing how major Bible personalities, such as Hannah, Lot, Achan, Naaman, Moses, Rahab, and others made choices for the good or bad in their lives.
'The disciplines' don't have to be intimdating, mystical, or practiced in caves.
