Not having read any books by Debra Erfert, I wasn't sure what to expect from Charlotte: the Duke's Daughter and was pleasantly surprised. I pretty much smiled the whole way through the story, with its bits of humor and a sweet romance. I was enchanted with Charlotte from the beginning of the book to the end. Her determination to find a place in life that was full of love and acceptance without regard to her wealth and title is charming. She was willing to give up all the show and adornment show more of her title to fit into a whole new lifestyle. The story moves quickly and there's lots of action and goings on to keep the reader's interest right up to the exciting climax. Readers who enjoy Victorian historical romance will not want to miss Charlotte's story. I'll be sure to be reading more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy of the book, and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. show less
This was a fantastic read and had me hooked from the get go, I liked how Candice was smart, confident (to a point) and probably has the worst luck after running into Alex the guy she loved but let go not just due to his job but her past. There is a great mix of mystery, shyness, really bad luck, a few lol and damn some twists you do not see coming. I can not wait to read more in this series and do hope we get to know the outer characters like Liz, Edward and others along with more about show more Candice's past. show less
I received a free copy of this book through the kindle scout program.

I just want to say I was abselutely enchanted. A wonderful romantic suspense with what seems to be insta-love. But with a great twist in the sense that Lee has not signed his divorce papers, so Anna refused to so much as kiss him. It was the first time that I rad a book by this author, but I will be reading more of her books

I would recommend this book to every one who loves a clean romance with lots of suspense!
(A copy was received for review after nominating this book during its Kindle Scout run).

Genre : Romance with a mystery/family drama flavor.

The protagonist is a stubborn judge's daughter and wife of a deceased attorney, who won't let go of her suspicions that her husband was murdered. A housewife who wed barely out of high school and didn't pursue any further education in the years she was married, she's nonetheless developed impressive networking, staking out, sleuthing and self-defense show more skills in the past year (to a point that stretches believability a bit for this reader but oh well...). Some of her luck runs out and she attracts the male protagonist's attention when she is caught in a situation that looks like her trying to deal drugs and getting nearly stabbed as a result.

While it is labeled a "romantic mystery" it is full-on romance, with love at first sight, probably somewhat-too-perfect main characters, the murder and family mysteries secondary to the progression of the relationship and an opportunity to throw misunderstandings and obstacles to resolve and overcome in the heroes' way.
