I love it when I discover the book I expected to be ‘meh’ - okay - turns out to be a gem. Mated to the Alien Alpha is that book. I clicked on the link after a fellow member in an author group said it was a fun read, but the title made me think it would be so-so. Instead, I discover a whole new world. Worlds are hard to build and this one seems complex. The character development is adequate and the plot is interesting so overall - a good story. I have high hopes for further development at show more is it is listed as the first in a new series. Time will tell. The one aspect I enjoyed the most was the humor.
The world is an Alpha / Omega trope with male and female; the ones who can bear a child and the ones who can sire and the ones who have not gone through puberty.
“So,” I say, taking in Mike’s damp hair and the clean sweet smell of him. “Nice bath?”
He grimaces. “There were a lot of kids,” he says. “A lot of splashing.” I blink at him, and then I break into an honest to God guffaw. I can’t. – “You…they made you sit in the kiddy pool…oh my God!”
Mike frowns. “What does that mean? I don’t…what does that mean?” “I don’t know,” I tell him honestly, wiping my eyes. “I mean I guess…I have this theory, but Daniel doesn’t like it.”
“Daniel’s not here,” Mike says, and he leans in. “What is it?”
“Well,” I say, and I outline it for him real quick. Mike leans back, looking sour. “Okay. So they think you’re ‘fertile’ and Leo’s ‘virile’. What the hell does that make me?” “Pre-pubescent,” I tell him, and the look on his face is too hilarious for words.

The beginning was a touch slow. Maybe a bit of info-dumping got in a way. Maybe it just took me a month or so to get into a present tense, first person POV narrative. But the story won over. I am very glad I kept on reading, because once over the hump (first encounter), I couldn't put the book down. There was a bit too much sex for me, but it's my problem - the story didn't really suffer from it. Overall, 4 solid stars.

Here is a quick run-down:

A single alpha alien seeks a single human omega. show more
Apply at the local jungle.

As a result, we have the hottest purple alien/horny human sex. Knotting. Mpreg. Emotions.

Hysterical episodes involving drone footage of above mentioned sex.

Chaos among humans. Insane amount of possibilities (pairings) in following installments.

The book ends in a cliffie, but not for this particular couple. Can't wait for book 2!

At times there is a disjointed flow of narrative, and even conversation (as part of the characters) which doesn't make sense, but despite this I really enjoyed the plot and characters. I loved the family interconnection that the three siblings have ~ they were lovely together, but realistic with the bickering and eye-rolling. It was quite endearing. I also liked how the writer twined together the two MCs (Peter and Kevin) and previously the coven. There were some nice twists to the witch show more story plotline; that maintained my solid interest along with the decent 'baddie'. show less
This was a surprisingly fun and sexy story, but after all the amazing books I’ve read lately I’m feeling a little picky, and so I can’t in good conscience give this one full 4 stars. Maybe 3.5? Or 3.25?

There were some of things I really liked: the worldbuilding was great (even though the planet was slightly reminiscent of the one in the movie Avatar), the pacing was very nice (except for that spot of drama near the end — it could’ve been developed into something really good, but show more instead it felt pretty rushed), and of course, the two MCs had some delicious ust going on, and the sex was HOT. show less
