Reviews
This memoir is ostensibly narrated by a southern belle who assists in the underground railway, recluctantly becomes a mistress, and eventually leaves the south for New York. It takes place during and after the American Civil War, so it has that period feeling. It's also full of erotic encounters and so forth.
