The book Don't Worry, Be Happy brings together multiple elements of art, singer Bobby McFerrin and artist Alexander Calder collaborate to make a simple but astounding children’s picture book. This picture book is very unique and that is why I chose it. It does not have a plot but rather it uses lyrics from McFerrin’s song Don't Worry, Be Happy. Calder’s simplistic artwork accompanies the lyrics on the page, adding a whole new dimension to the song. The lyrics “Cause when you worry show more your face will frown” is accompanied by a wire sculpture of a frowning face. This book could be used to teach some aspects of the arts have it be music or art. It could be used with very young children, working with colors, shapes or simple words, or even in a college setting. I believe any age could appreciate this book for its simplistic beauty. show less
Really liked most of it. Could have done without the last track but understand why he included it.
Has a funky feel to it but nothing really jumps out.
The words to Bobby McFerrin's infectious song illustrated by Alexander Calder. Some pictures are respresentative, yet most are abstract. But all reflect the happy lyrics. Sure to be a treat with arty youngsters
