I've been doing quite a bit of walking over the last few years ......mainly around my home suburb but the occasional longer walk around Sydney Harbour foreshores. Anyway, I though t this book would be great for identifying some other walks that i could do...either solo or with friends who have expressed interest. O have a similar book which is about walks where you can take your dog. And I tried a few of these but found that the maps were sadly lacking. It was really difficult to find your show more way, just using the maps provided in the book. And I think the current book suffers from the same drawback. Yes the maps are "pretty" but I'm not sure that they will be a great help when I come to the proverbial fork in the road. On the positive side, there are a lot of walks and most of them look really interesting. So I'll have to give some of them a try.
I have done, at least, one of the walks (Number 37) so I compared the description with my actual experience and was quite impressed. I think, that with the descriptions /instructions plus the maps that it would be pretty easy to find your way, So I hope the rest are as clear. I liked the fact that a bit of historical or local information was included....like the fact that Yaralla house was the first house in Sydney to have electricity. (I wonder how it was generated?).
Some nice pictures and easy to follow but lacks a lot of the walks that I know about so it is just a selection of walks....not comprehensive. Four stars from me. show less
