As someone who sadly always has a few parts left over when working on my car, I really appreciate this contribution from Car Tech books. The writing is clear, the photography is excellent, and the table of contents very helpful. The book even includes how to lay out the parts and ensure that readers don't leave anything behind. Well done and essential for anyone working on any of the four generaions of Coyote engines.

My teenage boys have rebuilt a different type of Ford engine and thought this book was informative, though they said it might lead you to believe that you need a lot of expensive equipment (which they didn't need to do their rebuild).
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. How To Rebuild Ford Coyote Engines, by Jim Smart I was a technician way back when and still try to keep up with the technical advances. It is exciting. And so it is with modern engines, like the Ford Coyote engine. I had no idea what went into it and then along came Jim Smart's book, and I had to dive into it. Well, it was really exciting, and I learned that I have a lot to learn. Which is why I was so happy to have received this LibraryThing selection. As usual with books from CartechBooks, show more great details, verble and illustrative. The author in addition to clear step-by-step "how to", suggests alternat goals the car owner may be working towards, and of c ourse, how to achieve these goals. The author shares his experience, offering useful information on tools needed, how to economize on tools and parts with detracting from your work. A great book from which to learn how much a part electronics plays in in our lives, and how to live with it. If you work on cars or not, a great way to learn a little more about today's world. show less
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This how-to manual comes to market at the same time the Fox body Mustangs are starting to see a greater appreciation among collectors. Although always a popular style it has only been recently that a broader market interest has expressed itself in an upward tic in Fox model values. The 5.0 powered models continue to be most coveted and a good deal of literature has been written in support of tuning that engine for increased performance. The book in question also addresses engine restoration, show more both the 5.0 and the OHC four, but also covers chassis, drive line, interior, and suspension and much more. The layout of the chapters is sensible, the illustrations nicely done and helpful, and numerous improvements offered. The single caveat to offer is one I've offered before; the tools and space needed to perform the many tasks necessary in a restoration are seldom available to the typical DIY. Some of the equipment might be offered for rent but the outlay for tools will be considerable. The manual is well worth its price and will readily pay back in time saved, and a reduction in inadvertent mistakes. show less
