Thrown right into the action, with a lot of characters and couples introduced very quickly. The only characters I felt I knew well and understood, by the end of the story, were Raizou and Kon. Raizou is an orphan, struggling to fit in, lonley and all around sweet guy. Kon is a kami without a master, so he feels useless with no purpose, so he lets himself be hurt. Asari and Shoui are a tragic pairing. Shoui doesn't want to use Asari to heal because it hurts Asari. To heal their master is a show more kami's job and Asari can no longer heal. Naoya is having a rough day, kicked out of school, no place to live and no money. Reiji finds his girlfriend cheating on him. They bump into each other outside a hotel. Reiji follows Naoya and sees that Naoya has no place to sleep, so he offers him the use of his couch. I like Reiji, he is kind but gruff and doesn't expect anything from Naoya. Naoya is slowly falling for Reiji but is expecting the worse because that's his life. Nothing explicit, just a single kiss. Really sweet story.

Whole book about Raizou and Kon attempting to have sex but things keep getting in the way. First Kon doesn't know what love is so Raizou feels they should wait. Then Kon is kidnapped by deranged mother. Slowly Kon is realizing he does love Raizou. This couple is so sweet and cute as they experience first love. Both are lonely and need to be needed. Being with each other helps.
Interesting little mystery with Waki and his ambivalence toward his kami and what is in that box he's protecting?

I like the drawing style, even though it isn't the best I've ever seen. But that´s just my personal opinion as a manga novice. The story is quite sweet, if you overlook the rape scenes, which have been a regular in almost every yaoi I´ve so far read. And there are a lot of parts in which Love Mode is pretty funny, especially when Takamiya surprises Izumi with affection. But even though I overall liked reading Love Mode I decided against buying the other comics in this series.
