Again almost non-stop action but there's enough pauses to keep this one breathable. I liked the new master and how Rune is making connections with all the supernaturals in town but really, screw the birds. Ugh. We learn a major thing about Lex that is bound to have some consequences and finally Rune quits playing around with Strad's heart as much. I'm happy to say COS has revealed its colors and turned most of humanity against it. Full review to come.
Well, it's another addictive RH Romance series by Laken Cane. The main character is a bit spotty - or I'll go with her actual name Bats nicknamed Batty - and her compassionate is uneven. Sometimes she's obnoxiously cold-blooded, sometimes soft hearted, it's inconsistent. But as always the morally gray side characters are fabulous, including the various paranormal supe interests. Reading both of the first two in a row, of course, it's a slow burn which is my preferred. Secrets, twists, actual show more story lines, and Cane's writing style has improved over the years. Thankfully I started thsi series the same month the third book will be released by coincidence as it's hard to put down. show less
Well, color me impressed - this short book was much better than I thought it would be. It has an almost gothic vibe mixed in with a vulnerable and layered main character, a non-cheesy alpha, a small twisted town, and the family hiding in the "pocket" - it's definitely unique and not fully a romance only. The story was impossible for me to put down - on to the second.
I see a lot of reviewers not liking Colin - and while I'm against his womanizing lifestyle, something about him I like for Batty --- but Alex is still a no for me. We get finally overdue great scenes with Matteo, Grey sits this one out as boring for me, and I guess we may be permanently losing (possibly) one of the earlier love interests as this book really shies away. Repetitive with losing powers again, doubting powers again, and injury --- which is why it's closer to three than four for show more my enjoyment level. Not sure what to think of the father development yet. Still can't wait for the next book and hope there are several more as to me there's tons not wrapped up with the relationships. show less
