Dan Rowan (1922–1987)

The correspondence, between 1967 and 1974, of an unlikely pair of friends, from beginning to near-end. Dan Rowan, a rising young comedian who became half of the "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In Show", sought out John MacDonald, author of the popular "Travis McGee" detective series, and they immediately began an unusual correspondence. This book collects those letters. They quickly developed a strong and personal friendship, made all the more poignant by their falling-out at the end and their show more uneasy attempts to salvage the relationship.
