Based on the true story of William Wilberforce, "Amazing Grace" follows his courageous quest to end the British slave trade. Along the way, Wilberforce meets intense opposition from members of Parliament but his minister, John Newton, a reformed slave ship captain who penned the beloved hymn 'Amazing Grace,' urges him to see the cause through.
The second series continues the story into the time of Octavian. Although some episodes are strong there is also evidence of a good deal of padding, particularly towards the end. A lot of sex and violence but no more so than in the first series. The sub-plot concerning Vorenus' children becomes tedious. The cast no doubt had a lot of fun making the series. It's a bit disconcerting finding the chauffeur from Downton Abbey up to no good with Octavia.
2023 movie #181. 1979. Totally made up story of how an American reporter (Hoffman) found Agatha Christie (Redgrave) during her mysterious 11-day disappearance in 1926, fell in love with her and saved her life. Good performances but an unconvincing love story.
Precocious siblings Lucy and Edmund Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, are swallowed into a painting and transported back to Narnia. They join King Caspian and a noble mouse named Reepicheep in a quest to rescue noble lords who had been lost fighting evil on another island. Aboard the magnificent ship The Dawn Treader, the courageous voyagers travel to mysterious islands, confront mystical creatures, and reunite with the Great Lion Aslan on a mission that tests their characters to show more determine the fate of Narnia itself! show less
