Carmina Archilochi: The Fragments of Archilochos by Archilochus

The work of the 7th-century BCE poet Archilochus survives only in fragments—occasionally as slightly longer pieces, but sometimes only as a word or a phrase. Guy Davenport's translation is lively and gives the modern Anglophone reader some sense of the original: scabrous, sharp-tongued, epigrammatic.
