To cut to the point, it's hard to imagine a better examination of a race driver's career and impact than this work, of the man who really laid the foundations of Roger Penske's racing empire, by his technical ability and racing prowess. About the only reason I don't hand out that last half a star is that this book is structured more as a chronicle than as a narrative history, but there is a lot to say for taking the man's life one race weekend at a time, until the last one where Donohue lost show more his life. show less
