What’s it about?
In Austrian politics right-wing politicians are on the rise again. In autumn 2017 the right-wing Party FPOE entered the government - and so did politicians with more than questionable backgrounds. You have to keep an eye especially on the politicians in fraternities. In comparison to American fraternities where they seem to fulfil mostly a party and network function, Austrian fraternities look back to a long history: Many of them were involved in the construction of the show more Nazi Regime. They are characterised by Antisemitism, anti-democratic and unconstitutional ideas. And now a lot of those people work on the powerful positions in the government. The book takes a look at the fraternities, their history - and especially at the current politicians, their values, ideas and strategies.

How was it?
The book is based on a very solid and well research. It checks the political backgrounds based on objective criteria and facts. Good structure, high readability – and with contents of highest importance: If Austrians decide to read just one non-fiction book this year, I hope it will be this one!

Although in large part outdated today, still an interesting read, especially as one could argue how populistic, simple-minded worldviews contrary to any actual reality can gain so much power in well-educated, enlightened western societies.
