FINALLY!! An original l story!!

This is the first book I have read by Tess Oliver and all I could think when I finished reading it was 'Oh, so that is what a five star book is like.' I am tempted to go back and remove a star from all of my previous reviews (except for my beloved Outlander of course). I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story. I forced myself to stop reading several times just so that I could draw out the process of reading this book, that is how much show more I liked it.

First, the cover. Yum! Need I say more? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Second, love the characters. Nix had a rough childhood but was mild compared to what Scotlyn had been through (love her name by the way, and the meaning behind it... too sweet). So, Scotlyn is mute but Nix has no trouble understanding her and treating her like a human being. The depth of these characters made me feel like they were real people just sitting in front of me telling their story, and really that is the highest praise I can give to a book. I can picture each one of them (even the supporting characters) in my mind like they were long lost friends.

I was curious how the author was going to write the dialog between Nix and Scotlyn and I was worried it would be annoying. I could not have been more wrong.

It was so refreshing to read a book that did not feel like it was created from a formula. And even though their connection was fast it did not feel like insta-love, more like insta-caring.

Tess Oliver is now an author the I will read without hesitation and I can only say that about a handful of authors.

Well done!

I was really excited to read this because of Finley's character situation and the promise of great sexual tension between Eden and Jude.

And there was great sexual tension between Eden and Jude. While things may have occurred a little too quickly between them for my tastes (the book seems to take place within a few weeks) I enjoyed watching them interact with each other. The sexual tension is right there from the get go and just keeps building so I really liked that.

Finley is an interesting show more character and I wish that part of the book was told from her perspective. I really liked her and I wished that the book focused more on her and her mental problems. I didn't completely love how her mental issues were handled in this book (I've read much better) but considering she is a secondary character it isn't a huge deal breaker for me. The story is mostly about Eden and her trying to navigate her life as it changes around her. I just wish I got a better conclusion about Finley's journey in the process.

As for Eden, I liked her a lot at the start and then I just liked her by the end. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what caused me not to like her as much near the end but I think it was the rushed feeling this book had to it and that caused her character to be a little wish-washy to me.

I say that the book was rushed because it seemed like it had just built to its climax and then, BOOM--end. I guess I just really liked where the story was headed and things just happened and then ended so quickly that I felt like I was robbed. I really wish this book had a sequel because I really liked the King siblings and I want to see more of them.

Overall: It's definitely not the greatest book ever but, I got exactly what I wanted out of it: a quick, super cute romance read that had me smiling and swooning. A good book to read if you need a bit of a pick me up!

I was a little unsure of this book when I picked it up. I thought the cover was beautiful. That dress is gorgeous! I hate that this book sat on my TBR shelf for so long!

I love love LOVE Camille as a character. She wasn't afraid to go into a graveyards at midnight, she almost always wore trousers, and followed a man she was trying to help into all sorts of dangerous places. KICK-BUTT! The only thing I didn't like was all the bottom lip quivering when she was around Nathaniel, but with all of show more above, it's a measly complaint, for sure.
I also really liked that Camille had such a terribly interesting background, from what happened with her father to having a secret hidden away.

I found Nathaniel Strider a brute. A witty brute! I'll share a teaser quote from him, that in no way really spoils anything, so you'll see what I mean. This comes from the first time we see Camille and Nathaniel kiss in public.

"I suppose I should have waited to kiss you when you weren't dressed in trousers."

I actually laughed out loud at that one. Some reviews stated that the relationship between Camille and her love interest developed too quickly. I didn't think so, but even if it did, doesn't that happen all the time in the paranormal? I think that the relationship HAD to develop the way it did because Camille and Nathaniel were on a time constraint - on the next full moon, she will have to destroy him if a cure isn't found. That hanging over your head might make your emotions work overtime.

I was a little sad when this adventure came to a close. I haven't heard if it may turn into a series, but I hope it does. I want to know what happens to Camille, Nathaniel and Dr Bennett in their search to cure lycanthropy. This book hasn't gotten as much buzz as I think it deserves, so hopefully my review will help encourage other readers to pick it up. Go for it!

Girl running from abusive lover falls straight into the arms of one bad ass.

What I liked....Street a.k.a. Amy. She's funny, loyal and in love with another of the Stone brothers. She becomes a true friend to Jade. Just wish Hunter would get his head out of his rear. Oh the bad guy getting his just rewards at the end.

What I didn't like....why is the town half afraid, half in awe of the Stone brothers? There are mentions of scars on their backs and sounds like they were neglected but that's show more it. Makes it a little hard to be empathetic and really connect with them when you don't know the whole story.

Oh....and Colt goes and has a threesome AFTER he meets Jade and they share a couple of "moments". His reasoning....he did it to be able to keep his hands to himself? If he really wanted her that bad then no other woman or women would do. Not that his brother is any better. He will use Street for some fun when it's convenient but she's not allowed to even talk to another man... doesn't matter that he screws anything that moves. Sorry, don't like the double standard in life and don't care for it in my books.

Will I continue the series? I'm a glutton for punishment and hold hopes that the brothers just need to find the "right" woman. Or in Hunter's case realize he has that woman in his life.
