YOU MAY KILL THE BRIDE was a very serendipitous find for me. Looking for a mystery title that started with Y for a reading challenge I stumbled upon it as I googled around the web looking for suitable titles. The 5th book in the ‘Wedding planner’ series YOU MAY KILL THE BRIDE was a very entertaining whodunit. Carnegie is a very witty, but not a stupid, amateur sleuth who becomes the prime suspect when she is discovered crouched over the first body. This does not improve when she is found show more holding the murder weapon next to the second body! There are plenty of laughs and twists and turns as Carnegie splits her time between proving her innocence, sorting out her personal life and planning the best wedding ever. She is supported by a typical cast of idiosyncratic island characters, some loveable and some outright creepy, and though you know you are going to have these characters it is lovely to see how they turn out. Even though I hadn’t read the previous 4 books in the series I had no problems picking up the relationships between the Carnegie and her immediate circle of friends and family. As far as I am aware there were no spoilers to the outcomes of the previous books. Very enjoyable read. show less
Carnegie is finally getting married, but before she can think about her own wedding she has to wrap up the wedding of a baseball star to a young punk rocker. Things seem to be going fine with the unlikely couple until someone winds up dead at the rehersal - and Carnegie suspects the groom!
I'm a sucker for stories where a librarian is the main character.
