Point, Click, Quilt! Turn Your Photos into Fabulous Fabric Art: 16 Projects, Fusible Applique, Thread Sketching & More by Susan Knapp
I found this book so very interesting. Susan talks about shooting objects in a way that translates into interesting quilts. She writes about shooting otherwise uninteresting objects and and turning them beautiful quilts. Susan also includes information about color, value, composition, and the rule of thirds. She includes several quilt projects and patterns in the book. This book will make you grab your camera and go shoot a quilt.
I love this story about the Iowa State Fair. Spending a day at the ISF is one of my favorite things to do!
Point, Click, Quilt! Turn Your Photos into Fabulous Fabric Art: 16 Projects, Fusible Applique, Thread Sketching & More by Susan Knapp
Point, Click, Quilt: Turn Your Photos into Fabulous Fabric Art" by Susan Brubaker Knapp teaches everything! (Well, almost!)
But it is an excellent book for both quilters and photographers.
Brubaker Knapp begins 'Point, Click, Quilt' with tips on getting good photos with your camera. She, then, offers challenges such as, reflections, texture, taking 3 different views of each subject that you are working with, line, shadow, and movement. By taking these different styles of photos, you can build show more up a library that you will be able to refer to for your quilt choices and ideas.
Susan Brubaker Knapp begins next, by going into art quilt construction, offering many choices and types of embellishments. Some of her methods include the traditional fusible web, and painting the quilt. You can also make quilts by using thread sketching, angelina fibers, foils, or melting tyvek. Some of these quilts are very unique, but very striking. Abstract quilts are also covered.
Point, Click, Quilt then teaches how to quilt your project and finish your quilt.
Many projects are included in this book, but you will probably prefer to use one of your own photos.
I like this book because of its thoroughness, never leaving me in the dark about what to do in order to make a beautiful art quilt of my own.
