1931 and only weeks away from her wedding to the Earl of Belvedere, Rose Simpson is persuaded by his sister, Lady Lavinia Sedgwick into an investigation.
It seems theat the newly married Millicent Grayson-Smith has had her diamond necklace stolen. But soon there will be a murderer to discover.
An enjoyable mystery, the first I have read in the series so easily read as a standalone story. Not sure I totally took to the main character though.

Rose Simpson's family has fallen on hard times. While working in a dress shop to help makes ends meet, she meets Lavinia, the daughter of Sir William and Lady Withers. A weekend at the Withers home turns ugly when Lady Withers sister, a termagant of a woman, is murdered. Things move along quite quickly in this book - too quickly. Love doesn't bloom, it explodes out of nothing. Rose isn't your typical sleuth...she gets everything wrong, in fact. The book is okay.
