This book is an excellent story that centers on Egypt but also the surrounding cultures. I added this to my read aloud for Ancient Egypt with my Jr and Sr High students. They really enjoyed it. There is enough detail, broad scope and anecdotal information to make this book have broad appeal to readers.
My only negative is that there is no hardcover!

Who in the World Was The Forgotten Explorer?: The Story of Amerigo Vespucci (Who in the World) by Lorene Lambert
This book talks about Amerigo Vespucci. It tells of the travels he made, how he came to make them, and the journey he went on to why this country is now called AMerica. Many think Colombus was the first, but Amerigo was the one who discovered that America was a different land and the first to discover north america. I love this because so many hear about Christopher but Amerigo was just as important.
