Kenneth Maynard

A quite good series. Realistic characters and excellent knowledge of the Age of Sail and all things nautical.

Apparently, the last, written in 1986, of this series which was off to a fair start. With a suitable history, an interesting main character, and a lively storyline.

An interesting start to a short series of a young man just made a commissioned officer in the HMS. Early days in his leadership skills but willing and able.

Maynard is a little known nautical writer, but I find this series excellent. Unfortunately, he died after writing only four.
