For the love of friends, all things good and bad. Interesting perspective on the thoughts and feeling associated with assisted suicide. We follow our main character, Jude, through what she believes may be the early stages of dementia. Jude looks within, to her friends, and her family, as she considers options to growing ill with this disease. Who do you tell, how do you ask for their help? Who is strong enough to carry out the details and who will considerate taboo? Jude views her options show more from many sides as she works through her decision concerning taking her own life in exchange for the suffering that both she, and her friends may possibly endure. Only Jude can have the final say. Which way will she turn? You will come away wondering the same about your own mortality. show less

The ending was a surprise, that's for sure! But a great way to finish it off, so to speak. This was a decent read, with the women's friendships well drawn out, I thought, and the topic of assisted suicide looked at from multiple viewpoints, so very well rounded. It's a tricky topic but I enjoyed the journey here.

I got this book as an Early Reviewer and the timing was serendipitous. I started it just as I was heading off on vacation with my mom and sisters to the California wine country. The setting was perfect for the story which is about three long time friends, (now in their 60s) working through their lives. One is single, two married. They work through cheating husbands, illness, and finding love again. I couldn't put this book down and am looking forward to more by this author.

Love girlfriends taking off for a break and helping each other out! This one was very imaginative. I really connected with the characters and it felt real even though part of the story is pure fantasy. You just have to read it because I don't want to give away the story. Five stars from me! ( )
