interesting information on collecting David Grann, a new form of Gonzo Journalism., along with Grann based movies. A better than usual remembrance from Biondi on 80's booksellers. the Smiley's have switched to ABE to sell their books, surprise, surprise! True Grit is one of Robyn's favorite books.
Includes the articles "Transcendent Gastronomy: Savoring The Works Of M.F.K. Fisher", And "M.F.K. Fisher: A Checklist Of First Editions". This was certainly the best magazine article published that attempted to provide both a biographical portrait of M.F.K. Fisher and a bibliographical overview of her works. It was written by Roger Gozdecki, a book-dealer who specialized in Fisher (and genuinely admired her work). The checklist of first editions was pretty good (though it has a few mistakes, show more and is not in the same league as the Zealand/Tarpey-Schwed bibliography). The article is illustrated throughout with photos of 1st editions of Fisher books, including Serve it Forth, and both the "glamour pose" and "serious pose" states of the dust jackets for The Gastronomical Me. Gozdecki gives thanks for assistance with the article to Marion Gore, Janet Jarvits, Phil O'Brien, David Streeter and Dan Strehl. pp. 38-47. show less
