I love this book! I think this is a very relatable book. I have freckles on my face that come out in the summer and all over my legs. I used to get made fun of for them all the time. I know many children get made fun of in school because they are different. Therefore, this book teaches students that they do not have to be like everyone else. Being different is okay, and don’t let anyone making fun of you bring you down.

The illustrations are very bright and colorful and take up most of the show more pages. The illustration of the boys at the playground look like typical boys you would see in third grade with missing teeth and crazy hair. When you can see Wanda’s face, you can see the worried expression on her face after being made fun of.

The author does a great job of using relatable vocabulary and actions that many students would think to do. At the end of the day, Wanda realizes that everyone loves her for who she is and she shouldn’t try to erase her freckles.

As the mother of a 3 year old with wild hair, this book was popular for the time we had it checked out from the library. Wanda gets her mother's earring caught in her hair and it causes her to have an interesting day. It was a cute and enjoyable book. My little one loved pointing to and naming all the things she could find in Wanda's hair.
A fun colorful romp about a girl's tough day with her uncontrollable hair.
