Flying Colors: The Story of a Remarkable Group of Artists and the Transcendent Power of Art by Tim Lefens
This book touches the heart; Lefens' dedication to the young people who appear on its pages is inspirational. He reaches out to disabled, wheelchair bound students, and by experimenting and persisting, is able to give them techniques to create art despite their lack of mobility and fine motor skills. By treating the students with full measure of respect and enabling them to bare their souls through their paintings, he allows them to become more fully realized as the individuals that they show more are. Lefens' writing captures the "transcendent power of art" and the capability of some fine young artists who are fortunate in having had an exceptionally devoted teacher. show less
