Leila Vennewitz has been since 1965 the translater of Heinrich Böll into English. In 1979 she won the PEN Translation Prize for her translation of Böll’s And Never Said a Word. She has also translated work of Jurek Becker, Walter Kempowski, Uwe Johnson, and three other novels by Martin Walser, Runaway Horse, The Swan Villa, and The Inner Man.
