Description:

Gwen Sparks is the typical girl next door - if you lived next door to a skilled witch who could read the thoughts of the dead and owned her own magic shop, that is. Her ex is a werewolf, and her new love interest is a vampire, and if that isn't enough excitement, local witches are being murdered, leading Gwen in search of a dangerous killer. Unfortunately, she must work with her ex, deal with a psychotic ghost, and try to keep her neck off the chopping block, while show more simultaneously trying to keep her life in check. Sometimes being a witch that everyone can count on can be a total bitch...

Review:
The first thing that pulled me in was the cover: the color and the mystery/allure behind her dark eyes spoke to me, "You want to know what I know," and I did. As soon as I started reading I realized that this urban fantasy was everything I liked about YA fiction but for a more mature audience. The characters, particularly Gwen and Aiden, are realistic and well-developed, and the dialogue/actions between them have a really good flow. I enjoyed getting to know them and was definitely a fan of their chemistry- especially in a few of the more mature passages. The plot wasn't the normal cookie-cutter paranormal romance and it held a few fast-paced surprises, including the ending. Stephanie Nelson definitely knows how to write a book that keeps the reader excited and entertained. Glad to read a book that didn't have the same "human + vampire/werewolf = undying love" theme. Overall, I can honestly say that I can't wait for the next book in the series; I hope it comes out soon!

I've read a lot of these formula stories but there's something about Gwen Sparks that just beckons to me. First off, this girl needs a loyalty card from Victoria's Secret or something because for some reason, her underwear just keeps getting torn to pieces. Those sexy scenes are very steamy and removing panties just requires patience Gwen and Aiden doesn't have. Way to live vicariously through your characters SNelson! *clap* *clap*

Craved is about the everyday normal life of a witch named Gwen. Well, not so normal. She works with the cops because she has the ability to read the minds' of the dead. So when reading the mind of a dead witch, she finds out that there is an underworld drug ring. The drug is witches' blood and a vampire has been sucking it out of witches to distribute and use. The blood can also give show more vampires magic, so they must find out who it is before there is a war on everyone's hands.

Gigantic thanks to my awesome friends at Talk Supe who loaned me this book. It hurts knowing this book was under my nose and I didn't even know it. Stephanie Nelson is officially on my authors-to-stalk list. I loved this book sooooo much. Adding this to my favorites list.

We have a wonderful array of characters. Gwen is amazing and real. She may be a witch, but she runs her own business in a small town of Flora, lives in her own small apartment with her great roommate/best friend Fiona. I like that you can relate to her. Her best friend Fiona was a little spoiled, she used magic for the tiniest of things. But I loved her. She was a great best friend, she chose to live with Gwen instead of her awful, rich father who treats Gwen like a roach. Then we have Gwen's love interest, a vampire named Aidan. He had me foaming at the mouth. I thought he was incredible. He stood by for two years while Gwen was with another man, a werewolf named Micah who is the cop working on this case. He was fun, flirtatious, and hot as hell. I loved how much he loved Gwen. I was rooting for him from the beginning.

I love this plot. Definitely an interesting take on the drug world. This book started off great, but got really interesting with the arrival of Liam. He was hot, but there was something very off about him. He is definitely intriguing. You don't know if he is the villain or not because he is very convincing about not being the bad guy. I love how Nelson put this together. Usually there is a clear answer for me, but I was flabbergasted. And even after I had an "Oh shit" moment, Nelson wasn't done giving us a parting gift. There were things done in the book that were sad and had my mouth hanging to the floor. Nelson really knows how to put you on a rollercoaster. No dull moments here people!

I can't think of anything I didn't like. This book ended on a very interesting and disturbing note. I know Deceived (book 2) will pack a punch and I can't wait. I love where this book went and I am anxious to see where it will go. This book was sexy, fast-paced, and suspenseful. Couldn't put this bad boy down. You will be surprised, you will smile and you will have a blast with Craved. Highly recommended for Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Thank you so much again Talk Supe!!!

Just when Gwen thought her life was as insane as ever, she is contacted by the NAWC (North American Witches Council). The NAWC want to initiate a war against the vampires since they won't do anything to stop vampires from using Brew, witches' blood. So things are worse for Gwen since none of the witches trust her since she is dating Aiden who is a vampire. But they need her since she has a show more power that none of them have, she is a spirit walker. She can connect with ghosts and be apart of the world of the dead through astral protection. To help her learn more about her power, the witches bring in Dorian, a very sexy Angel of Death. And she still hasn't figured out what to do about the psychotic vampire Ian who has bonded himself to her.

Talk Supe came through for me again and loaned this to me. I absolutely loved Craved and Deceived was even better. The title says it all. I didn't want to believe it would happen, but you knew it was coming. Not to mention, Talk Supe rubbed it in. So mean guys! But if Stephanie Nelson isn't on your favorites list by now, what are you waiting for?

Gwen has once again kicked a lot of ass in this book. She discovers she has a lot of power. So much so, that the witches want her to play a major role in the war against the vampires. They do believe she is a traitor since she is with Aiden, but they want her power and will train her to use it. She will be their secret weapon. She has the power to astral project and speak to ghosts. But the witches want Gwen to speak to very specific ghosts. These ghosts are of people who were killed by the vampires themselves. Aiden and Gwen are combustible together and I am sure by the title, you know how things go. But I still want the whole story. Was it for personal gain or for Gwen? I am still not sure. I know this makes no sense unless you read it, it is hard not to spoil. I will stop right here.

Then we have Dorian. Oh Dorian!!!! I do enjoy Aiden, but Dorian is more up my alley. Definitely has that bad boy vibe and being an Angel of Death, that can't be more true. Someone said this and I am so glad they did because I thought it was just me. But something about Dorian reminds me of Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, so that is a plus. Dorian and Gwen have soooo much chemistry and he is hilarious. He definitely grabbed my attention quickly. I was unsure whether to trust him at first though since he was brought in by Holly. Holly is the lead witch of NAWC and hates Gwen, but wants her power. But she is definitely hiding something and I don't trust her at all. And then we have Ian. The guy is awful and evil and he definitely reminds you of that. He does something truly awful to Gwen in this book that left a really bad taste in my mouth.

This book was fast paced. Gwen wants to have a normal life so bad, but every time she turns around, she is placed in the middle of something. I love that she doesn't get onboard with the vampire-witch war because of Aiden. She actually fights for it and gets them to sit down in the same room together. That was definitely something I didn't think anyone could do. And the ending is insane. We figure out Ian's plan and who all the players are and my mouth was dragging to the floor. I need some answers right now. I am still thinking about it. This book definitely leaves a mark.

This series is a must-read! It is everything I want in an Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance series. The characters are amazing especially Dorian. He was satisfying right up to the very last sentence which left a smile on my face. There are a few grammar/spelling issues, but they don't get in the way, trust me. This is a great modern day witch story. Deceived is sexy, full of intrigue, conspiracies, and plenty of mystery. Do not miss this series. Also for Gwen and Dorian fans, they have their own short story in an anthology that just came out. Go check it out here: Cupid Painted Blind
