Highly recommended. This is a scholarly and very readable account of the Johnson foreign policy with respect to Europe and the Soviet Union. Schwartz offers a erudite foray into the workings of the Johnson Administration's approach to NATO, DeGaulle, and Arms Treaty negotiations with the Soviets during the turbulent 1960s. His treatment is refreshingly unbiased and instructive, without the hindsight pontificating so common in books addressing this era. Excellent.
