My copy of The Riddle of Rockview School was published in 1928. I'm not sure how I got it, I can only assume it came from my grandmother, who would have been the right age to read it at the time of publishing. My copy is not in very good condition; there are six pages missing, pages are stained, and some little darling has scribbled in it.
The story is set in a boarding school for girls, on the coast of Cornwall. Anne's auntie has established a new school in a house there, and Anne is show more determined to uncover the mystery surrounding its owners.
I wouldn't like my two star rating to scare potential readers away from this book. I'm a very fussy reader, and my low rating comes from my dislike for boarding school stories and for the main character.
The story has potential for modern young readers, but it would need some editing first. There were a number of typos in my edition, some of the Cornish accents were too authentic for easy reading, and there were several odd disparaging comments about females. show less
